Lit is a post punk independent music venue. We also believe punk can be played on a violin. If you don't understand this semi metaphor or are a little confused then don't submit your band.

We don't want any top 40 wannabees. In fact we don't want any band who has formed for the sole purpose of financial gain and we definitely don't book "Cover Bands". Original music only please.
We like new wave, no wave, noise rock, math rock, electro dance rock, brit pop, psychedelic, experimental, abstract folk,
the less vocals the better.

Please let us know the last local New York venue you played and how many paid customers you drew. There is no fee for a band to play Lit. You are paid on your draw. TOTAL door expense is only $150 for the night. $100 to sound guy and $50 to door girl. This money comes off the door before bands are paid.
Bands do not pay this door expense if no one shows up to see you play. Bands collectively split remainder of door according to your draw. Lit does NOT take a cut of the door so we can keep the cover low $6. All shows are 21+. This means band members as well. Sorry Cops are getting tough.

4 bands per night 9pm, 9:45, 10:30, 11:15
Load in 7:15pm and check in with sound man so he knows you are there to play
doors: 8:30pm
$6 admission for fans (21+ only)
30 minute sets please
bands get $2 drinks from 8:30pm-1am
guest list 4 per band.
DJ's spin after the bands each night from 12:00 - 4am. bands are welcome to hang out after you play for as long as you like
but keep an eye on your gear.

BACK LINE:
4 piece drum kit you can all use, Yamaha Stage Custom, 22" bass, 16" floor tom, 14" mounted tom, 12" mounted tom, we have hardware but it's crappy it is best you bring all hardware and cymbals.
Bass Amp: Peavy mk VII and a Hartke 3500 with separate 4X10 500 watt 4 ohm Bass Cabinet
No Guitar amp or cabinet so don't ask.
Full 500 watt PA, 24 trk Mackie SR mixer with 3 JBL powered stage monitors(with separate mix) 6 di's and numerous mic's. Capacity downstairs for the bands is 170 people. All our soundmen are very friendly but if you give them rock star attitude it won't help your sound. $$$$$$$ ALL BANDS make sure you pick up your pay the night you play. If you leave the club without getting paid you won't get paid the next day. So stick around until the last band is finished then speak to door girl. We are not a bank... thank god.
